Well well....

One morning a couple weeks ago we woke up to no running water in the house or in the barn.  Nothing.   We were concerned that the well was dry since it's been a very dry fall, but when the guys came out they found that the pump rod was broken and the "leathers" were worn  out.  After being without running water for a 1 1/2 days we were so thankful to have running water again!!
Praise the Lord!!

September Quilt Club

Last week Amy, Ana, and I went to the quilt club meeting with Mrs. K.T. :-)
I love the patriotic color scheme in this one!

 Two cute little quilts!

 Mrs. K.T.'s quilt top!

Ana brought along two quilts to find binding fabric.  She also showed them during the show and tell time. :-)

I brought along the runner I recently finished for a friend.

After the meeting we all went over to a coffee/sandwich shop and had lunch together. Ana and I split this wrap - yum!

Legacy Five Concert!!

Last evening we girls went to a Legacy Five concert with Uncle T. and Aunt Linda Sue from church.  We had such fun together!!
:)

The Legacy Five guys are great singers, and can be quite funny too!

Mr. Scott Fowler, the lead singer.

Mr. Scott Howard....a very funny man!  Here he is telling about the coffee Scott Fowler has for sale.

This clip is from another concert, but they sang this song last night and I really liked it. :-)

A Brighter Kitchen!

Before ...............and...............After!

We've talked about painting our dark kitchen cupboards for a while now, but the thought of having to sand, prime, and paint them discouraged us.  Not to mention the mess sanding would make and the smell from all the primer and paint.  But then we discovered Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint that can be used on almost any surface without sanding and does not need a primer!  It was developed by a lady from England and sounded really neat.  We found out that our aunt sells it so we ordered some and set to work!
(Here is a link to her store: Denim Rose)
Before ...................and ...................After

It was nice to work with and stuck to the cupboards really well. We washed them down, did two coats of paint, and then distressed it. After painting then it needs to be waxed, and I must admit I did not especially enjoy that part!  But Dad helped us and he actually did most of the waxing. :)  Oh and we ordered the actual wax brush, which helped. :)

Mom added this 'carving' to the plain boards under the stove top and the sink. So pretty!

We did the kitchen in sections and that made it easier to still operate in there with food prep etc. since the whole room wasn't in pieces and in the process of being painted at the same time. We also painted the walls while we were at it!  We had some paint left over from various projects and I mixed some together to get a gallon of soft blue/green color.  We really like it!

Sweet Friends

We had a wonderful visit with Uncle Don and Aunt Carol from California on Friday and Saturday!! We met them last fall in Texas at a friend's wedding and became good friends. They have land in MN and so stopped by on their way through.  We are so glad they did!!

Baby Shower!

A couple weeks ago we ladies went to a baby shower for a dear friend who is expecting her first baby! :)
Moya asked me to write down the gifts, which I was happy to do.
Although I think she ended up with a rather funny list...I was tired and my spelling certainly reflected that!! =D  (Was that "piapers" or "diapers"?)
It was fun to see all the creative gifts and visit with old friends!

:-)

(All pictures taken by Amy or Ana  - thank you!)
