Last evening we girls went to a Legacy Five concert with Uncle T. and Aunt Linda Sue from church.  We had such fun together!!
:)

The Legacy Five guys are great singers, and can be quite funny too!

Mr. Scott Fowler, the lead singer.

Mr. Scott Howard....a very funny man!  Here he is telling about the coffee Scott Fowler has for sale.

This clip is from another concert, but they sang this song last night and I really liked it. :-)

Itasca Family Bluegrass Festival!

Saturday we all went to the annual bluegrass festival up by Itasca State Park. :)
They were amazing musicians.  The 18 year old son played the bass with great rhythm and enthusiasm - he was fun to watch!

A really neat family of 12 from Iowa!

A cute little fella in the row in front of us!

A few cute young ladies next to me!

They were my favorite!!  Their harmony was AMAZING and the dad and younger son were quite funny!

I'm thankful we were able to attend the festival this year. :)

The Hoppers in Concert!!

Last evening we went to a concert by the Hoppers!! It was a real treat to meet them in person after having enjoyed their music for several years.  We went with our Aunt and Uncle from church and had a great time together!!  (Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of us all...although you can see a reflection of Mom, Ana, and me on the back of the Hopper bus in the above picture!)
Mr. and Mrs. Hopper and Mrs. and Mrs. Hopper  ;-)
(Part of the group, but not pictured, is their other son Micheal who plays the drums, and the piano player...I think his name was Josh.)

Mrs. Connie Hopper - she has a lovely alto voice and gentle southern accent!

 Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hopper.

Mrs. Kim Hopper - a sweet lady with a powerful soprano voice!

Mr.and Mrs. Dean Hopper singing a song about daughters.  It made Mom cry, and after the song Dean came down off the stage and gave her a tissue!
These southern gospel groups are so friendly. During the intermission and after the concert, we girls enjoyed visiting with the elder Mr. Hopper - we was so kind and funny!
It was a wonderful evening!!

June Sunday Evening Fellowship

One Sunday evening a month the people from our church gather at one family's home and sing, share Bible verses, and then have a snack.  It's a fun time of fellowship!  This month it was at the home of Dr. R. a retired trauma doctor.

For the majority of the time Amy and Mrs. C. took turns playing the piano...but near the end Dr.R. played the piano and we all sang certain songs he had selected.

Singing!

The yummy 'lunch' - what they call a snack around here!

Mr. L dishing up ice cream - his favorite!

Beautiful sunset over one of the lakes on our way home. (Taken through the van window.) :)

National Day of Prayer

Dad, Ana, and I along with several people from church joined with others in the community to observe the 61st Annual National Day of Prayer last evening.  Eight men prayed for various aspects of our nation, and the Northern Lights Gospel Quartet provided the music. Afterwards I took pictures of the quartet, which I really enjoyed!

Booth Brothers Concert!!!

This past Saturday we girls went with Mr. and Mrs. T. to a Booth Brothers concert about 3 hours east of us. A long ride and a late night, but we all agreed it was well worth it!!!

Standing in line at about 5:00 PM. (The doors opened at 5:15, and the concert started at 6:00)  Even though we were way back in the line we were able to find seats near the front!

The Booth Brothers have been mentoring a new group called Declaration, who opened the concert with about 3 songs.  They were excellent!

And then.....the Booth Brothers came on stage!!

The concert was fun, encouraging, full of beautiful melodies, harmony, and the truth of the gospel!

Ronnie Booth

Michael Booth is one funny guy! :)

Jim Brady

Mr. T. getting his poster autographed by Ronnie Booth. :)

Mr. T. took this picture of us girls with the Booth Brothers. :) (Thank you!)

It was a wonderful evening!!

One of the songs they sang at the concert.

Edited to addMichael Booth mentioned at the concert that Mr. Gaither is doing a video about them.... but I thought he was just kidding. Well, we just found out that they really are making one!! The DVD will be out this fall!! Go here for more information and pictures. :)

"All I Have Is Christ"

I love this song!

ALL I HAVE IS CHRIST

I once was lost in darkest night
Yet thought I knew the way
The sin that promised joy and life
Had led me to the grave
I had no hope that You would own
A rebel to Your will
And if You had not loved me first
I would refuse You still

But as I ran my hell-bound race
Indifferent to the cost
You looked upon my helpless state
And led me to the cross
And I beheld God’s love displayed
You suffered in my place
You bore the wrath reserved for me
Now all I know is grace

Hallelujah! All I have is Christ
Hallelujah! Jesus is my life

Now, Lord, I would be Yours alone
And live so all might see
The strength to follow Your commands
Could never come from me
Oh Father, use my ransomed life
In any way You choose
And let my song forever be
My only boast is You

Quartet Singing!

Last Sunday the Northern Lights Gospel Quartet sang at church!  They sang a mixture of acapella songs and songs with music, and did a fine job.  We really enjoyed their concert!! I love 4-part harmony.

The Bluegrass Festival!!!

This past weekend was the 6th annual Lake Itasca Family Music Festival...also known as "The Bluegrass Festival".  We've wanted to go for a few years but somehow it never worked out...until this year!  We really enjoyed it!  There was music all day by several different bands.

"Undeserved Grace" (The Becker family)

The Mahlsteds
A cute and solemn fiddle player.

I love old trucks!

The Bensons - This family came and sang a barbershop quartet style song between bands...they were amazing!

Some of the audience.. :)

They did a medley of songs of the music for each branch of the military and had people from that branch stand up.
These were some of the men that stood for the Army.

It began to rain...
So they moved us into another building to listen to The Bankesters:

Mr. and Mrs. Bankester singing together.  Ana and I went to a workshop they did about vocal harmony. :)

These 'hillbillies' (the Wissmann brothers) came and entertained us while the sound man set up for the next band.  They were quite funny!

And a blurry picture of some late night jamming by several bands together. :)

It was a fun day!!
