I enjoy looking through the piles of old photographs at antique stores and wondering who the people were, and who the picture was for. Although is seems a bit sad to see these pictures just tossed into an old drawer with the price marked on the back in pencil. Sometimes I 'rescue' some from the pile and bring them home to admire! :)
I like the classic black and white and the sepia tones these photos have....

Even the furniture is often pretty.

Oh how lovely! I have often thought the same Alyssa, and have also felt sad for the forgotten people in these old pictures. I feel so curious as to know what kind of life they lived, who their family was, what their interests were, etc. :) How sweet to rescue the pictures to place in your home...what a wonderful idea! :D I love the one of the woman standing and the one of the woman from the 1920-1940? ;) Lovely!
Where do you find the pictures? We have nothing like that here where you could buy such lovely things (to my knowledge).
Blessings and Hugs!

I love looking at old photographs too! You wonder about the stories behind the people in the pictures.
I recently found this awesome website with posts of photographs found at thrift stores and places like that... many people have found pictures of relatives from looking through these posts.

Come to think of it, I think this was linked to from the S&S board so you may have seen it already... anyway! It's a cool site. :-)
beautiful photos! Yes I too wonder what there names were of all the old photos I find on ebay. I have a file of pictures on my computer of pictures I find on the internet. Wish I had some of my own. I will have to on the look out for some at the next reenactment.

Rachel - The one that looks like it's from the 1920-40s my mom gave me. The other two I found at an antique store in town. They were $1.00 each! :D
Melanie - I vaguely remember that site, thank you for the link! I'll check it out!
Rebecca - That is a good idea! Do you use them for inspiration for clothing or hair styles when you are reenacting?
Yes Alyssa I do use them for inspiration for clothing and hair styles! :) exactly! I have used two to base two of my gowns I wear to civil war events off of. Its fun to really wear something that is based off an original! You feel as if you stepped out of the time period. Yes ebay is great for finding inspiration and as long as you are not selling the photo, you can copy them off ebay.

Lovely! I'm an archivist and so spend most days looking at old photographs. Such a shame that so many end up discarded in shops!
My sentiments exactly! You have some wonderful treasures here; I think the 1920's-40's is my favorite time period, especially for old photo's!
I LOVE old photos and dresses, and things of the past! It is a sobering reminder of how short life is. I also am interested now in learning more about my ancestors - it's fun finding out new facts about your family heritage!
I also wanted to say THANK YOU for sharing about that Bible reading plan a while back - I started it on January 1st, and I'm really liking it! While it's a challenge to keep up with at times, it's just what I needed. I love how it just soaks you in the Word! I think that meditating on a few verses at a time is good, but this plan is helping me stay focused and learn more about the Bible as a whole. So thank you! :-)
Blessings,
Hannah
Elena - :) Oh yes, me too! I love the clothing of the 1930's...so creative and feminine! <3
Hannah - Yes, it is fun to learn about one's own family history! I love to look through old photo albums with my Grandma and hear her tell about the people in the pictures. :)
Oh, I am so glad you are enjoying the Bible reading plan!! I first heard about it from a friend in Texas and started it in November. I love it!
