New Friends!

We enjoyed having the Young family stay overnight with us last week Wednesday! Mom found out they needed a place to stay on their way through MN to Canada to speak at a homeschool conference and offered for them to stay at our place. We had never met them before, but we enjoyed them a lot!  (I think we were up until nearly midnight singing hymns!)
Their website: Raising Real Men

They spent most of Thursday morning going through all their inventory in preparation for crossing the border into Canada. We girls enjoyed helping put "Made in America" stickers on the CDs. Little Katie loved going out to the barn with Amy to visit the goats. :)

Contentment...

"Contentment...has come to mean that we are grimly resigned to the fact that we don't have everything we need to be happy. But biblically, contentment means resting in the knowledge that what God has given you is enough - that He has given you everything you need. It does not mean determining that it's not enough but you're going to keep a stiff upper lip anyway.  Agreeing with God is not the same as agreeing to disagree with Him."

Booth Brothers Concert!!!

This past Saturday we girls went with Mr. and Mrs. T. to a Booth Brothers concert about 3 hours east of us. A long ride and a late night, but we all agreed it was well worth it!!!

Standing in line at about 5:00 PM. (The doors opened at 5:15, and the concert started at 6:00)  Even though we were way back in the line we were able to find seats near the front!

The Booth Brothers have been mentoring a new group called Declaration, who opened the concert with about 3 songs.  They were excellent!

And then.....the Booth Brothers came on stage!!

The concert was fun, encouraging, full of beautiful melodies, harmony, and the truth of the gospel!

Michael Booth is one funny guy! :)

Mr. T. took this picture of us girls with the Booth Brothers. :) (Thank you!)

It was a wonderful evening!!

One of the songs they sang at the concert.

Edited to addMichael Booth mentioned at the concert that Mr. Gaither is doing a video about them.... but I thought he was just kidding. Well, we just found out that they really are making one!! The DVD will be out this fall!! Go here for more information and pictures. :)

Warren and Moya's Wedding

Friday was our friend Moya's wedding in a nearby town.  It turned out to be a lovely spring-like day! Dad dropped Ana and me off at about 8:00AM  as she was in charge of the cake and I was a bridesmaid.
The bride's mother baked the cake and Ana filled, stacked, and frosted it....
...with a little 'help' from Moya's youngest brother!
:)

The finished cake!
Ana made the lovely cherry blossoms out of gum paste.

Posing for pictures before the wedding.
I was delighted to be a bridesmaid!!
Moya was very relaxed about dresses, colors... actually she was very relaxed about everything!  She told us each to wear a dress we liked. :)  I was not able to be there for the rehearsal dinner as I was sick with a  fever. (But by the day of the wedding I was better, which was a huge and amazing answer to prayer!)
When Ana and I got to the church she started in on the cake and the Matron of Honor showed me what I was supposed to do, how to walk in etc.  I found out I was the first bridesmaid to walk down. Gulp. It worked out just fine though, for which I am very thankful.

Something was funny!

It was a fun day!

Note: Most of these pictures were taken by Amy or Ana, a few by me, and the one of us three girls was taken by one of the photographers. :)

Of Paper Dolls and Vintage Dresses

Yesterday Mom and I went to a brunch at which a lady gave a talk about paper dolls. She had several different kinds, from different years, in her collection.

She also had an old Montgomery Wards catalog from 1941-1942 since children would often cut out their own paper dolls from magazines.  I remember my Grandma showing us how to do this when I was little! Since it was such an old catalog, I wasn't sure if she would mind someone looking through it, but when I asked her after the talk she said "Yes, of course!"  :)

Ladies wore such lovely dresses back then.

Mom and I had a fun time together. :)

Do you have any memories involving paper dolls?

Be Found Ready

Live as if you thought that Christ might come at any time.
Do everything, as if you did it for the last time.
Say everything, as if you said it for the last time.
Read every chapter in the Bible, as if you did not know whether you would be allowed to read it again.
Pray every prayer, as if you felt it might be your last opportunity.
Hear every sermon, as if you were hearing once and forever.
This is the way to be found ready.
This is the way to turn Christ's second appearing to good account.
This is the way to put on the armor of light.

Marcus Measures

Ana and I stopped by a friend's house this morning to make a delivery.  Marcus, their youngest, was busy at the kitchen table with a tape measure.  He is a cute one!

Snow!

We were supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow Tuesday evening. We've had such a mild winter, so we were all excited at the prospect of SNOW; I had high hopes that we would get a blizzard.  We ended up with about 8 - 10 inches of beautiful sparkly snow!  Although I'm not sure if it was a blizzard or not since it all happened while we were sleeping. ;)
